BASIC ALGORITHMS OF GOOGLE

GOOGLE ALGORITHM

WHAT IS GOOGLE ALGORITHM :

  • Page ranking is an algorithm used by Google to rank web pages in their search engines results.
  • Google has 200+ algorithms.
  • Google needs to update and change the algorithm regularly.
  • It affects the websites which have used black hat techniques to rank their search engines.

7 MAJOR GOOGLE ALGORITHM UPDATES :

  1. PANDA
  2. PENGUIN
  3. HUMMING BIRD
  4. FRED
  5. PIGEON
  6. RANK BRAIN
  7. MOBILE

Panda algorithm
panda algorithm
AIM OF PANDA ALGORITHM:
The stated purpose of the google panda algorithm update was to reward high-quality websites and diminish the presence of low-quality websites in google's organic search engine results. Another name of the "panda" update is "Farmer".

GOOGLE PANDA PENALTY:
Google panda penalty occurs when websites manage to rank highly despite thin or poor content that does not serve the end-user.

HOW TO RECOVER FROM PANDA UPDATE :
  1. Remove low-quality content.
  2. Fix issues reported by google webmaster tools.
  3. Fix external link to pages removed.
  4. Look for spelling and grammar mistakes.
  5. Remove the external links to low-quality or penalized websites.
  6. Clean up the backlinks profile.
Penguin Algorithm

AIM OF PENGUIN ALGORITHM:

  1. Penguin algorithm was introduced to fight webspam.
  2. Penguin algorithm is a part of the core algorithm of the google search engine.
  3. It is a filter that is designed to penalize the website that has bad link-building techniques and keyword stuffing.
HOW IT WORKS :

The presence of a large number of low-quality links pointing to one page of your site could result in a reduction of google trust in your entire website.

HOW TO RECOVER FROM PENGUIN UPDATE :
  1. The removal of unnatural links over which you have control.
  2. The disavowal of spammy links that you can't control.
  3. keywords have been implemented.

HUMMINGBIRD ALGORITHM

AIM OF HUMMING BIRD ALGORITHM :
  1. Google Hummingbird algorithm was an important adjustment in the world of SEO because it greatly impacted how the search engine interpreted websites and found the optimal results for users.
  2. It shows the users more relevant results.

EXAMPLE FOR HUMMINGBIRD ALGORITHM  :

The knowledge graph and semantic search

In order to fully understand the purpose behind Hummingbird, it’s important to first be familiar with the search engine features it most heavily impacted: semantic search and the knowledge graph.

A year prior to the release of Hummingbird, Google launched its knowledge graph: not an actual graph, but rather set of SERP features designed to provide quick, accurate answers to users’ queries about people, places, and things.

Semantic search attempts to match appropriate SERP results to the language of Internet users’ queries beyond the meanings of individual keywords, taking a broader context into account, even when the intent of the user is implicit rather than explicit. To see the semantic search in action, take a look back at the “chocolate chip cookies” SERP image above. Even though the query was for the cookies themselves, semantic search extrapolated that despite the words used in the search query the intent behind the search differed from the language used.

PIGEON ALGORITHM

pigeon algorithm

AIM OF PIGEON ALGORITHM :

  1. Google created the Pigeon algorithm with the goal of increasing local listings' ranking in search results.
  2. Google Pigeon update affects the local searches and location-based searches. Google has come a long way in seeing past misspellings in appearance.

HOW IT WORKS :

  1. Google Pigeon Algorithm works by reducing duplicates between organic and merged page results
  2. Google Pigeon lets you find exactly what you're looking for based on your location.
  3. Google's distance measurement tools and maps have also been updated, so local searches have been revised to be more accurate than ever.

EXAMPLE FOR PIGEON ALGORITHM :

pigeon algorithm example

What is local and organic SEO?

  1. Local SEO has a geographical component that organic SEO does not necessarily have.
  2. It is the practice of building signals of relevance around a specific location in a brick-and-mortar business.
  3.  Organic SEO is a marketing practice that revolves, more or less, around a website.

MOBILE ALGORITHM

WHAT IS A MOBILE ALGORITHM :

Mobilegeddon is a name for Google's search engine algorithm update of April 21, 2015.

AIM OF MOBILE ALGORITHM :

  1. The main effect of this update was to give priority to websites that display well on smartphones and other mobile devices.
  2.  The change did not affect searches made from a desktop computer or a laptop
  3. The new Google mobile-friendly algorithm is supposed to give an additional ranking boost for mobile-friendly websites in the mobile search results.
  4.  So depending on how fast Google crawls and indexes all of the pages on your site, the impact can be slow to show up.

EXAMPLE OF MOBILE ALGORITHM :

PC VIEW                                                                                             MOBILE VIEW

RANK BRAIN ALGORITHM :

WHAT IS RANK BRAIN?
  1. RankBrain is a machine learning-based search engine algorithm, the use of which was confirmed by Google on 26 October 2015.
  2. It helps Google to process search results and provide more relevant search results for users.

AIM OF RANK BRAIN ALGORITHM :

  1. RankBrain has allowed Google to speed up the algorithmic testing it does for keyword categories to attempt to choose the best content for any particular keyword search.
  2. This means that old methods of gaming the rankings with false signals are becoming less and less effective and the highest quality content from a human perspective is being ranked higher in Google.
  3. RankBrain has helped Hummingbird provide more accurate results because it can learn words and phrases it may not know.
  4.  It also learns them specifically for the country, as well as language, in which a query is made.
  5. So, if one looks up a query with the word boot in it within the United States, one will get information on footwear.
  6. However, if the query comes through the UK, then the information could also be in regards to storage spaces in cars.

FRED ALGORITHM

WHAT IS FRED ALGORITHM

  1. The Fred update was an adjustment to Google's search ranking algorithms that was implemented on March 7, 2017.
  2. Initially, Google chose not to announce the update.
  3. It was this lack of forewarning that prompted many SEOs and webmasters to fly into a panic when they examined their analytics data on March 8.

AIMS OF FRED ALGORITHM

  1. Displayed misleading or deceptive ads.
  2. Poor mobile compatibility
  3. Thin content
  4. Overuse of addsSaturated with affiliate links, adds, and low-value content
  5. Displayed ads that tricked users into clicking on them.

DIGITAL MARKETING FOR BEGINNERS

What is digital marketing

The term "digital marketing" refers to advertising on the internet via digital platforms. It's a different way of saying "internet marketing." It's not only less expensive than traditional marketing.

TYPES OF MODULES IN DIGITAL MARKETING :

  • Content Marketing
  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Search Engine Marketing
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Social Media Advertising
  • Email Marketing
  • Marketing Automation
  • Analytics
  • Integrated Digital Marketing

CONTENT MARKETING :

The most in-demand talent right now is content marketing. Writing a blog post or article and putting it online isn't considered content marketing.

The three important phases of content marketing are

  • planning
  • creation
  • promotion

The content marketing planning process is roughly equivalent to you sitting down to put together a month's worth of blogging calendars. With each blog post idea, you have a goal in mind for what you want to accomplish with it, as well as a strategy for achieving it (i.e., what to write in the post). If you don't engage in this activity, your posts are unlikely to assist you in achieving your larger objectives.

When you begin writing a blog post, you conduct preliminary research on the topic or idea, then draught an outline, and finally write, edit, and publish the article. It's the same as when you're creating material. a research paper, an outline, a draught and an edit.

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION :

SEO, or search engine optimization, is both the most in-demand and the most hardest skill to learn. Google updates its ranking algorithm 200 times each year, which keeps practitioners on their toes because strategies that worked in the past may become obsolete the moment Google releases a new version.

You would have done keyword research to choose the correct keyword to focus on and competition research to see what sort of material your competitors have written before writing your blog post. Those two measures are the foundation of a successful SEO campaign.

Search Engine Marketing:

If you really want to excel at blogging, you cannot just rely on the organic traffic. As it might take a while to receive the organic traffic to your new blog posts, you can leverage Google Addwords and Bing Ads to gain instant traction. Since you’ll be focusing on research or awareness keywords for ads, it won’t be costing you much. Also, you don’t have to focus only on Adwords or Bing Ads, you can try and test second tier and third tier players like 7Search, AOL search etc.

And, if you chose to use this tactic, you’ll be learning to create ad campaigns, writing adverts, measuring and optimizing the ads which mean, you’ll be mastering search engine marketing aka PPC advertising.

Social Media Marketing:

Social is an essential component to succeed in blogging and in earlier times blogging is considered as a social media activity because your blog posts can evoke comments, likes, and shares from the readers. To leverage social media to drive interactions, you need to learn the right time to post on social medias and to craft social media posts that get likes and shares. When you do it, you’ll be learning and mastering social media marketing.

Social Media Advertising:

It’s a known factor that Facebook doesn’t want to you get much of free likes and shares and the organic reach for the posts are diminishing by the day. Running successful social media ads have become a crucial component to succeed as a blogger. Many bloggers have failed to recognize this change and adapt to it and it has cost them, robbing many of their readers and the shares from them. This opens up the path to learn and master social media advertising.

Email Marketing:

List building and blogging are inextricably linked, and any successful blogger or aspiring blogger will prioritise it. Also, as part of monetizing the blog, bloggers use email to support their revenue generation plans. Keeping the readers updated with the latest blog posts through weekly newsletters, engaging readers with email only contents and promoting products and services through emails are few of the email tactics commonly used by the bloggers. And those tactics are the most important components of email marketing. When you build, manage and engage your email list, you are also en route to mastering email marketing.

Marketing Automation:

The majority of competent bloggers use software to automate their promotion. When they write a new blog article, it is immediately shared on social media, submitted to ping servers, and added to the sitemap. They also segment and serve appropriate content and advertisements to its visitors based on the source of the visit. With email automation, they can tag, segment and promote relevant content and offers. All these are part of the marketing automation skill set and blogging can help you learn it effectively.

Analytics:

You need to know where your blog readers arrive from, what they consume, where they go, how much time they spend, and what actions they take, and Google analytics may help you with that. Mastering such analytics tools is important for a blogger to improve his game by publishing more blog posts in the topics that get more readership, likes, and shares. Every good blogger will be a pro analytics user.

Integrated Digital Marketing:

You've probably discovered that becoming a successful blogger isn't a matter of luck. To get the best results, it all depends on how well you combine marketing channels and approaches. Integrated digital marketing is defined as the use of two or more marketing channels and approaches to reach a goal. And, if you're truly focused on getting the best outcomes for your blog, you'll be learning the integrated digital marketing talent without even realising it.
